About the Davis Parent Teacher Association

The mission of the Davis Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is to ensure that every student at Davis can reach their full potential through quality public education. We support our students by building strong partnerships between parents, teachers, and school administration.

We fulfill this mission in four key ways:

community

The Davis PTA brings together parents, teachers, and administrators for open communication and shared decision-making. We’re a ground-up organization—our members drive the work we do to support our Davis Dolphins.

While it’s important work, it’s also a lot of fun! The PTA is a great way to meet people, make friends, and get involved in our vibrant Davis community.

We host events that bring our school community together all year long, including:

  • Welcome to Davis Club – Events for incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten families to help them feel welcome and connected

  • Back to School Ice Cream Social – A fun, informal event to kick off the school year

  • Dolphinfest – Our annual school carnival with games, food, and entertainment

  • The Big To-Do – An adults-only fundraising event to support PTA programs

  • Book Fair Week – A week of book shopping that encourages reading and supports the school library

  • Grandparents' Luncheon – A special lunch event for grandparents to enjoy time with their grandchildren at school

  • Spirit Events – Partnering with local restaurants and businesses to raise funds for Davis through fun, community-focused activities
  • PTA Meetings – Regular meetings to keep the community informed and engaged in school activities

Our communications team keeps families informed through the Dolphin Digest weekly newsletter, our PTA website, and social media.

And our Spirit Gear Committee ensures everyone can show their Dolphin Pride with fresh Davis gear each year.

ENRICHMENT

A great education goes beyond the basics. Davis PTA supports programs that inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

We organize and sponsor:

  • Science Fair – An exciting opportunity for students to showcase their scientific inquiry and creative problem-solving skills through hands-on experiments and presentations

  • Reflections Art Program – A national arts recognition program that encourages students to express themselves through visual arts, dance, music, and literature

  • Math Pentathlon After-School Program – A fun and engaging way for students to develop math skills through games and problem-solving

  • Davis Players 5th Grade Drama Club – Where students explore creativity and build confidence through performance

These events provide enriching experiences for students and families alike.

Our Grounds Beautification Committee promotes sustainability and campus pride. In 2024, this team led a major transformation of our one-acre front yard into an outdoor learning environment designed for exploration, nature education, and play.

We also produce the annual Davis Yearbook—a lasting keepsake full of school memories.

SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS & TEACHERS

Austin is a global tech hub, and Davis PTA is committed to preparing our students to lead the future.

We proudly fund:

  • Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum, teacher training, and classroom materials. This innovative program equips students to tackle real-world challenges in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science.

  • New library books, PE equipment, outdoor classroom spaces, technology upgrades, and more.

To support our amazing educators, the PTA provides:

  • $200 per teacher per year to offset classroom supply costs

  • Monthly lunches, snacks, and treats through our Teacher & Staff Appreciation Committee

  • Organized Room Parents to help coordinate class activities, volunteers, gifts, and communication

We also lead efforts like:

  • Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students), a program that brings positive male role models into the school and supports safety and community-building

  • Pod Packs, which provides weekend meals for over 100 students each week—ensuring food security throughout the school year

Advocacy

We believe in leading by example. That’s why the Davis PTA actively engages in education advocacy at the local, state, and national levels. We inform our community about important ballot issues and help get out the vote during elections.

Our advocacy efforts earned us recognition from Mayor Steve Adler and City Council Member Dr. Alison Alter, and we were proud to receive the National PTA Local Advocacy Award in 2020.

None of this would be possible without a passionate and committed team of volunteers.

Many parents are surprised to learn how much of this work is led and funded by the PTA. So please: join us, donate if you can, and help us spread the word about all the good the Davis PTA does!
