Volunteer Opportunities

Calling all grandparents! Join our Legacy Group to connect with other grandparents and make a lasting difference at Davis. This group of volunteers assists with various school needs, including, but not limited to: Classroom, Cafeteria, Office, Library, Children's Reading & Math Support, Mentoring, Grandparents' Luncheon, etc. Build community and volunteer based on your interests and availability. NOTE: Please also sign up for the specific committees you're interested in, as applicable.

Help keep our school running smoothly by supporting the office staff with essential administrative tasks. Duties include greeting and signing in visitors, copying materials, and providing general clerical assistance. Your efforts make a big difference in creating a welcoming and efficient school environment!

Join our Digest team to help keep our community informed with our weekly Dolphin Digest e-newsletter. You'll work on a roster to develop and send our weekly Digest newsletter, with guidance provided by the Digest Chair. Content submissions are provided by PTA committee chairs, office staff and community partners. Training in Mailchimp (our email marketing platform) will be provided, and it's easy to learn! Entirely remote.

Join our advocacy committee to help organize our school community around issues related to school funding, district happenings, voting, and state legislative policy. Collaborate with Austin Council of PTAs Advocacy efforts, learn how you can register voters and more!

Help art teachers with displaying art, prepping materials for lessons, or as an extra set of hands during some lessons throughout the year.

Help plan this parent-only fundraising dinner and auction in the spring. Remote volunteer options available.

Calling all bookworms! Help coordinate our on-campus Book Fair, which occurs for one week in the fall. Help with decorating, set up/teardown, cashiering, or assisting students and their families as they shop.

Help identify and coordinate our school's business sponsors.

CAC is a great way to get involved at Davis, learn about our campus goals and priorities, and provide input as we make decisions that impact our school. Monthly CAC meetings are open to anyone: parents, staff, business owners, and community members.

Support sustainability efforts on campus and inspire students to become lifelong environmental stewards. Volunteers needed to help plan, develop, and maintain a beautiful campus.

For 5th grade parents whose kids are interested in rehearsing and performing in the spring performance.

Help plan and assist in various sub-committees for our family-friendly fundraiser in the fall: Booths, Food, Tickets, Volunteers, General Store, etc.

Serve as a liaison between the lead teacher of the grade level and room parents. Duties include providing support for room parents, relaying information from teachers to room parents regarding grade specific parties, events and field trips. You can be both a GLC and a room parent if you wish; ideally, GLC's have previously served as a room parent.

Help coordinate our annual Grandparents' Luncheon during Book Fair week.

Your gift of time and talent is what makes the Davis Library a wonderful experience for our children, faculty, and families. There are a variety of opportunities from library materials management to technology updates, as well as helping students locate books. The Library has a multitude of tasks for completion and we look forward to you helping us.

Volunteers are needed to support our Math Pentathlon after-school program, which meets every Friday from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM. Coaches, routine volunteers, and general helpers play a vital role in creating a fun and engaging environment where students can strengthen basic math & logical reasoning skills, practice good sportsmanship, and enhance creative thinking. No advanced math knowledge is required—we’ll provide all the training and resources you need to succeed. Join us to make a positive impact and help our students thrive!

Please sign up if you have time to help support our students who need a math buddy. Requires as little as one hour a week.

Join our new Outreach & Inclusion committee and be part of events, activities and community-building efforts throughout the year with the goal of expanding and including more diverse voices and perspectives in our school community.

Help coordinate the delivery of weekend meals to students in need every Friday at school.

Join our fundraising team and help drive our PTA Provides Fundraiser in the fall, and sometimes a push in the spring. We need a Co-Chair to learn the ropes this year and takeover for the 25-26 school year.

Do you love reading to children? Attentive adults needed for as little as one hour a week to read to and with younger students.

Do you want to build a strong relationship with your student's teacher and other parents in the class? Room parents communicate with the other parents in the class, typically via a monthly email, about classroom and school events. This includes using signup genius to find volunteers and supplies for field trips and parties, plus other teacher needs such as copies or class projects. Our goal is to have two room parents per classroom to share the responsibility.

Judge science fair projects, usually in late January or early February.

Join our communications team to help keep the Davis community up-to-date through our social media platforms. Do you enjoy creating Canva images, copy editing, or creating schedules? Utilize your communications skills and volunteer from home! Entirely remote.

Help the science lab coordinator prepare materials or assist students during lab times with experiments or Lego Robotics throughout the school year, or with Ocean Week (M.A.R.E.) in the Spring. If you are in the science field and would like to share your expertise, or you simply have an interest in helping students explore and expand their interest in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, the science lab coordinator would love to have you.

Help coordinate and organize events for our amazing Davis teachers & staff.

Help our Spirit Gear Chairs pack & distribute pre-orders for Ice Cream Social, and manage sales at Ice cream Social, DolphinFest & various other times throughout the school year.

Join our web team to help manage updates to the Davis website. Training & guidance will be provided by the Web Chair, and it's easy to learn! Entirely remote.

Calling all dads and other father-figures (grandfathers, uncles, etc.)! Sign up as a Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) volunteer to help out at Davis this school year! Our goals are to provide positive male role models for students, as well as enhance school security and reduce bullying.

Volunteers are needed to help take photos at school events for the yearbook. No prior experience or special equipment required; most newer phone cameras will work! Photographers for all grades are needed, especially for Pre-K, 1st, 3rd & 4th grades.
